The Research On International Competitiveness Of The Exhibition Industry In Shanghai

In the field of industrial economics research, as an emerging green industries ,the exhibition industry is developing ,demonstrating a strong trend, and becoming the"boosters"of the city economic development with its high efficiency, high-growth characteristics.In some western developed countries, the exhibition industry is known as the" economic engine and a catalyst for urban. "Shanghai is the economic,financial and trading center of our country, and the "Yangtze River Delta" region with the center of Shanghai is the section which is famous for the the fastest economic development,the largest total economic output,and the most potential power. After more than 20 years of development, exhibition industry in Shanghai has entered a period of overall improvement, especially the 2010 World Expo held in Shanghai, will provide a great historical oppotunity for the Shanghai exhibition industry to make a progress by leaps and bounds. How to maintain and enhance the international competitives of Shanghai exhibition industry and how to make Shanghai become Asia's leading convention city by virtue of Shanghai World Expo is a valuable study.As to the structure of this thesis ,it is separated into six parts.The first part is introduction,giving some background information related to research and possible innovations.The second part is the literature review, in this part, the study of international competitiveness of industries is intruduced and China's exhibition industry research are reviewed as well.Chapter three introduces an overview of the development of Shanghai exhibition industry and make use of the diamond tools which includes the production factors, demand factors, enterprise factors ,opportunities and government to analyse Shanghai exhibition industry .Meanwhile, Shanghai exhibition industry's competitive advantage and competitive disadvantage are summarized.Chapter IV makes use of comparative method to analyse the gap in Convention and Exhibition industry between Shanghai and other cities .Chapter V is analysis of general ideas and suggestions on how to promote the international competitiveness about Shanghai exhibition industry.Chapter VI is the last part of the thesis, in which the conclusions and the inadequacies of the study are proposed.
