The automobile industry plays a very important role in a country's national economic development, and its development has a great deal to do with the future competition at the globalization trend. For this reason, researchers pay much attention to how to quicken the speed of the automobile industry and how to enhance the international competitive capacity. The United States is the biggest developed country in the world while China is the biggest developing country. As they are quite different in industry basis as well as the scientific and technological level, there are various differences in the automobile industry between the United States and China, which results in their different situations. In this sense, it is necessary to compare the automobile industry in these two countries. Only in this way, can the Chinese automobile industry learn the positive side while avoiding the negative one in order to find the most proper approach to further development.This thesis is composed of ten parts, in which the author compares the two in scale and profit, cost, technology, management strategies and its related industries, which lays a good foundation for the suggestions on how to develop the Chinese automobile industry faster and healthier.Based on the comparison of the automobile industry between the United States and China, the differences in management cost and strategy, the changeable view on the development of the automobile industry in these two countries, the author analyses the automobile industry in two countries applying the economic theories as well as the real cases. By such comparison, the suggestion raised by the author is made convincing and reasonable.After comparison, the author believes that China is really competitive in the cost and has the advantage in the choice of the management strategy, which is consumer-oriented. Although the automobile industry emerged in China quite late compared with other countries, it still has the potential and much room for improvement. In fact, the Chinese automobile industry has to learn a lot from the United States in terms of the good scale mode, the advanced technology in automobile production, good service and systematic circulation. In a word, the Chinese automobile industry had better know itself well about both strengths and weaknesses in the hope of finding the most proper way for its further healthy development.
