No matter in developed countries or in developing countries, Family enterprise is an important organizational form. Chinese family enterprises have experienced a rapid development since the reform and opening up, and have made significant contributions to promoting economic growth and solving employment. However, with the first generation of enterprisers gradually approaching retirement, succession has become an urgent problem that need solving. How power and wealth will effectively be passed on to the next generation, escaping from the cycle"be rich no more than three generations", become an important subject the academics and business managers faced with.In this paper, combined with domestic and foreign family enterprises and their succession theory, the author pointed out the succession problems and the influencing factors that the current family enterprises in our country faced. The paper compared the different family enterprises in the United States, Japan, Europe and Southeast Asia, analyzed the reasons to choose different modes of succession and learnt from their advanced practical experiences, trying to help the family enterprises in our country. Finally through analyzing different characteristics of family enterprises'succession modes at start-up stage, development stage and mature stage, combined with the actual situation of family enterprises in our country, the author pointed out a succession model that fit our family business and through analyzing a variety of succession modes, author made some countermeasures and suggestions to Chinese family enterprises succession.In this paper, through a comparative study and a combination of academic and empirical research methods and so on, author drew the main conclusions of this paper: on the basis of"inherited his father's", the mode that initially introduced professional managers as the management of specific sectors, and utilize family ties to form a smooth transition of the enterprise organization structure, is more suitable for the family business succession in our country.The creative research is that it is fully aware of the different types of family enterprises, as well as different stages of development and different modes in succession. To deny"inherited his father's"or simply emphasize the introduction of professional managers is no beneficial to the enterprises. The author hopes that through this study of family enterprises can provide useful advice in selecting succession modes.
