Research On Strategic Development Of Yichang Port Logistics With The Supply Chain Theory

The Yichang port, which has been renowned as "Throat between Sichuan and Hubei", is located where the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River are divided. It is among double coverages of our country 's central and western economic zones, and it is always the traffic hub and logistic distribution center of connecting western Hubei, western Hunan and Chongqing. Because of nature and policy factor, Long-triangle economic cycle, Chengdu-Chongqing economic cycle and Wuhan economic cycle don't include Yichang,. As many lines have been established or finished, such as Yi-Wan railway, Hu-Rong highway and Han-Yi highway, the traffic environment of Yichang will face hugely new changes. The influences of these changes will be profound and unprecedented to Yichang port.In order to develop Yichang port, the fundamental measure is to fix its transfered terminal position in shipping, and fully use its position advantage to transform passivity into initiative, and single transportation junction to three gorges transportation transfer center based on transportation junction, where economical society is integrated development.On this basis, this article made a detailed research on the development of Yichang port from supply chain point of view, and its main content as follow:Firstly, this article introduced the concept of supply chain and port logistics, and pointed out the difference between modern port and traditional port. On this basis, it expounded the relationship of supply chain and port logistics, and put forward to built new supply chain model, which takes port as center, and it provided theoretical basis for the development of its port logistics. Secondly, the strategic analysis of port is the important aspects of the development of port. This article used Michael Porter's Five Forces Model and SWOT analysis to confirm core-competitiveness of port more clearly, and put forward that the development of port should pay more attention to the establishment of its strategic alliance on the basis of supply chain, and point out the elements which should pay attention to when it established. It has deeply guide meaning to the strategic analysis, strategic location and strategic execution of Yichang port. Thirdly, this article introduced the basic situation of Yichang port, and defined its core-competitiveness according to the theory of strategic analysis of port.Finally, this article defined the strategic location of Yichang port. According to its practical situation and development direction, this article put forward the development strategy of Yichang port (shipping center, process reengineering, infrastructure development, etc.).
