Between Tradition And Modernity: The Change Of Chinese New Year

As one of the most important traditional holidays, Chinese New Year is now considered more and more uninteresting. However, except the direct experience that Chinese New Year is "more and more uninteresting", we have to consider: how it is changed from the interesting and exciting one to the insipidity one? What would it be in the future? What's the reason for the change? Whether it can be re-grand? How about the feeling of people on this change? regret or feel natural? They are helpless about this change or have taken some actions? This paper is based on a fieldwork about the Chinese New Year rituals and its changes in a village in southwest of Shandong province in China,I think Chinese New Year is not only a specific period, but also a series of rituals. Our experiences about the Chinese New Year is based on a series of rituals and symbols that rituals consist of, when the rituals and symbols exist, people's feel about the Chinese New Year exist, some of which disappear when some rituals and symbols disappear.As a historical accumulation of the traditional holiday, the Chinese New Year has four characteristics so far. First, both the timing and Sociality; second, its contents are constantly being deleted, add, so Chinese New Year is a process of ever-changing body; third, Chinese New Year are both local and unity; finally, Behind the the Chinese New Year's changes are cultural -the power structure, especially in modern history, the country's policy on the Chinese New Year is a continuously changing process that transformation of China to the West in the modern definition to examine itself, self-awareness, and build their own.In this article ,the investigation on Spring Festival change is from three aspects of the collective ceremony, secondary collective ceremony, the subsidiary of ceremony. Spring Festival is defined for a particular form of emotional expression and the value of the form of a rational form based on emotional needs, pursuit of value under the traditional Chinese way of livelihood, structure of social and cultural the shape .Chinese to the West at the definition of modernity against the background of transformation, because of national forces in accordance with "their own - mainly expert knowledge" understanding of modernity at different times, in the face of traditional, respectively, played a different role, as well as the modernity of the important Dimensions of the "market mechanism" the role of the spirit of the time of commercialization is taking shape, which led to changes in the traditional Chinese New Year. Such changes not only the performance of Chinese New Year ceremony for the content of the changes, but also for the significance. It is worth mentioning that the village through the conversion of the human definition of the meaning of Chinese New Year, in order to overcome the changes in the contents of the impact of the results of the Spring Festival are light years more and more flavor, but at the importance of people's minds it not obvious changed.According to the factors of Chinese New Year ceremony contents to exist and change the influencing, as well as changes to the Chinese New Year ceremony for the inspection, the paper on the development trend of Chinese New Year also is discussed.
