Study On The Sustainable Development Of Small Towns In Wuhan Metropolitan Area

"The issues concerning agriculture,countryside and farmers"is an important strategic problem to solve for building a well-off society and socialist harmonious society. The development of small towns not only an important way to promote urbanization,but also the only way for co-ordinating urban and rural development.To construt a Resource-saving and Environment-friendly social for Wuhan Metropolitan Area,we should pay attention to small towns in the entire socio-economic development to achive the goal of regional sustainable development,which is the basic requirements to implement the scientific development view and new countryside construction.Combining with the research status of the development of small towns home and abroad,we analyze the Population,Resources,Environment,Economy and Societ y factors of the sustainable development system in Wuhan Metropolitan Area.Acco rding to the principles of being scientific and practicality,being system hierarchy, being operating simplicity and being dynamic effectiveness,this thesis establishes an index system to evaluate the sustainable development of small towns in Wuha n Metropolitan Area.The index system involves 26 indexes for five sub-system,whi ch includes population,resources,environment,economy and society.With the help of the SPSS software,the index dates which are collected thro ugh the yearbooks including 25 counties are put into a unified evaluation system. This thesis makes a standardized processing of the index dates,and then conducts an evaluation of the system's sustainable development comprehensive index and coordinative index which is based on the economy by the Principle Component A nalysis and the Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP).The result shows that the syst em of small towns in Wuhan Metropolitan Area has a coordinated and steady inc reasing development.The coordinative index which is based on the economy also s hows that all the sub-systems are in fluctuation,they are tend to turn for better i n recent years.Through evaluating the result of sustainable development for small towns in Wuhan Metropolitan Area above,this thesis identifies the problems in the sustainable development:how to solve the labor required for the development,how to manage floating population;Resource consumption facing tremendous pressure from environmental pollution in urban and rural areas from point to line,and the spread of pollution in urban and rural areas;The level of industry structural is low,lacking a dynamic leading industry;The services of producing and living conditions for residents, and cultural and recreational facilities need to improve;and put forward some countermeasures and suggestions for the sustainable development of small towns in Wuhan Metropolitan Area.Establish population,resources,environment,social and economic system for a small town as a whole harmonious development concept,continue to keep population growth stable,protect labor rights;improve resource management and resource utilization,strengthen ecological protection,enhance the quality of the environment,develop recycling economy,upgrade the industrial structure;co-ordinate social development,building a harmonious small cities and towns.
