| Economy globalization and regional economic integration have been the main tendency nowadays. Many countries have joined the bilateral or multilateral international cooperation schemes in order to grasp the development opportunities.EU and NAFTA have proved as the successful examples of regional economic integration. However, comparing to the EU and NAFTA, the regional integration process in East Asia is slower but with a big potentiality.Since 1950's, about 100 regional economic organizations have ever been set up by developing countries in the world. However, it is commonly considered by scholars worldwide that, these regional cooperation schemes are still in experimental stage. It has become an international paradox being studied by scholars in the world.In 2002, when China and ASEAN officially signed the framework agreement on the overall economic cooperation, the China plus ASEAN FTA was set up in the tendency of the economic globalization and regional unification. So far, the scheme has resulted in a substantial development.China plus ASEAN Free Trade Area (shorted for CAFTA) is the first regional economic integration organization that China joined formally, which is also a regional organization consisting mainly of developing countries. The thesis shall focus on studying about how the CAFTA could be integrated like the EU and NAFTA as an academic approach to promote the regional cooperation .The establishment of CAFTA will surely reinforce the regional economic cooperation in East Asia and will further enable China to blend into the integration of world economy enthusiastically. On the basis of above analysis, the author puts forward some constructive thoughts and suggestions.This paper provides the theoretical base of economic integration firstly. Secondly, based on the theoretical and practical analysis, the feasibility of the regional integration is carried out. The development model and problems to be encountered are elaborated. At last, solutions are given accordingly. |
