Qinhuangdao: A Typical Rising City Driven By Coal Port (1898-1933)

This thesis takes QinhuangdaoPort as the object of study,researches the transportation, the coal industry around Qinhuangdao,and the Qinhuangdao industry,commerce and the population changes under the coal port lead,in order to explore the starting path of the modern Qinhuangdao City.Simultaneously,it provides the historical reference for the Qinhuangdao's current development and the prosperity.This article mainly uses kinds of research methods,such as the historical materialism, the integration of history and commentary,documentation research and file reorganization. Firstly,it explores the motives of the opening of the Qinhuangdao Port which attributes to its superior position condition,the policy-maker idea change and at that time,the sovereignty consciousness enhancement,strengthens the national capital military defense and the revival navy's strategy demands,and decision-making for expansion of the income constrained by government financial resource.A number of factors have provided an opportunity for the Qinhuangdao opening as a trade port.Qinhuangdao itself also meet the advantages of this opportunity.Qinhuangdao positioned as a coal port is the necessity of historical development and practical considerations.Secondly,this paper introduces that the relations of Qinhuangdao Port with the periphery transportation,mainly analyzes from the railroad and the ships two emerging transport modes,pointes out the the operation pattern of Qinhuangdao Port and road union, has made the harbor and railroad form effective interaction,and achieved the win-win effect.Then,taking major commodity exports of coal as the basis,this paper straightens out the Qinhuangdao Port before and after opened as port the coal distribution and marketing system and takes the main analysis by the Qinhuangdao Port coal exports Kailuan,Liujiang coal and the Great Wall coal situation.In the end,this paper points out that Qinhuangdao taking a position for as the special coal port,plays a leading role on the surrounding coal industry,on the contrary,around the coal industry also supports the Qinhuangdao Port and Qinhuangdao City's prosperity.Finally,this thesis discusses the influence of harbor development on the starting of Qinhuangdao as well as the enlightenment to today' Qinhuangdao.It mainly studies the relations on Qinhuangdao Port and the Qinhuangdao industry's and commerce's development and the urban population evolution.And this thesis proves the Qinhuangdao port city the development to benefit from Qin Port lead.In the end of this part,it further explains explore the Starting path of the modern Qinhuangdao City,and analyzes the reason of the unbalanced relations on Qinhuangdao port and city,in order to provide the reference for the today's relations of on Qinhuangdao port and city.This thesis is not only the preliminary discussion about the starting of Qinhuangdao city most rely on Qinhuangdao Port' drive,also the constitution of the positive-opened commercial port and the socialist system.Simultaneously,it is also the slight attempt to the studies in the harbor-hinterland economy modernization process.This thesis taking the harbor and hinterland industry's relations as the breakthrough point,reviews the sole commodity driving the economic relationships change of harbor-hinterland,and further analyzes this relations leads starting of city.It is expectde that this thesis can compensate for the lack of academic research on the research projice to some extent,and offer the reference for the current development of Qinhuangdao city.
