The Research On Construction Of Bank Of China Outlets (1912-1937)

Bank of China was founded in 1912,reorganized from Da Qing Bank that was the National Bank of the late Qing government.During the period of Beijing Government,Bank of China,which was jointly organized by the Government and private containing a small amount of private shares,gradually developed into National Capital Bank in which private capital had the dominant role.During the period of Nanjing National Government,Bank of China was reorganized as a bank for foreign exchange operations by government.At this point,the real power of Bank of China was transferred from government to the hand of the board of executive directors leading by Zhang Jia-ao,who were on behalf of the interests of private shareholders. To a certain extent,the bank achieved its goal being independent of government and developing into a commercial bank.However,Bank of China was reorganized again in 1935 and the power was regained by government.As a main force in Modern China banking,Bank of China had a great impact on Modern China's banking.In this thesis,the research subject is the construction of Bank of China outlets from 1912 to 1937.First of all,the process about birth of Bank of China is introduced concisely.The construction of Bank of China outlets was preceded by the instauration of Bank of China,Shanghai branch on February 5,1912.By 1937,Bank of China had undergone three phases containing institution,the initial development and the rapid development.According to these three phases,the changing instances about the construction of Bank of China outlets,as well as the characteristics about layout of the bank outlets were discussed in detail.Secondly,based on the development about the construction of Bank of China outlets,the factors impacting the construction of this bank's outlets,such as social, political,economic,geographic and systematic ones,are summed up combining with the real cases.Through concrete examples,the impacts caused by those factors that act together are analyzed further.As a result,Bank of China carries out adjusting outlets with ways of closing down,restructuring or moving and setting down.Third,with an overview of the construction of Bank of China outlets,the paper confirms the significance on the construction of this bank's outlets,and acceleration about banking business and the whole social economy.However,due to the limitations of outlets construction,although Bank of China had succeeded in economy,it couldn't assume the necessary social responsibility as a national bank.The construction of Bank of China outlets provided an objective basis that promoted it to develop into a modern,international bank.It was an effective guarantee that helped the business of Bank of China take up the first place of China' banking, and become a member in the international financial market.
