Study On The Contribution Of Seafarer Capital In China's Shipping Economic Growth

Shipping industry is an old industry. It carries the transport of goods and people for a long time, with the characteristics of international, arduous, high-tech, practical, and so on. It is also the essence of the maritime industry. As the world economy development, navigation technology improvement and understanding of the maritime industry deepening, the world shipping industry has the new development in recent decades and it has much higher requirements of human resources. As the seafarer resources play an important part in shipping industry, its role in economic development is gradually being recognized and confirmed. How to recognize the importance of seafarers capital and find the potential of it in this highly competitive market environment, will be the key for China from large shipping country to the powerful shipping nation.However, as seafarer is the human capital, it has few quantitative studies with shipping economy and the contribution to nation's shipping economic growth. Therefore, it has the deep theoretical and practical significance in the importance of seafarer capital. It is a must to carry out this study.In this paper, the contribution of seafarer capital to China's shipping economic growth includes four parts. Firstly, it analyzes the research background and significance, human capital theory and reviews the theory of economic growth with the main line of it. Secondly, it carries out the qualitative analysis of the basic content, the status quo and the culture of our nation's seafarer capital. And it also analyzes the necessity of seafarer capital from China's development trend of the shipping industry. Thirdly, it analyzes quantitatively the characteristics of long-run equilibrium and short-term fluctuations between our nation's seafarer capital and shipping economic growth. And it gets the contribution degree of China's shipping economic growth from seafarer capital. Finally, from the findings, attention should be paid to the development, education and management mechanism of China's seafarer capital. It provides the reference of strengthening the development scientifically and effectively, taking the seafarer as an important human capital.
