Along with the deepening of reform and opening-up as well as economic globalization, China is,at present,attracting more and more foreign companies' investment,which are in the process of becoming an important new force of Chinese national economy.It is demonstrated through the operation of multinationals in china that the inevitable cultural conflicts caused by different cultural backgrounds brings these companies enormous challenges in their management and development.Cultural conflict does not exert only negative influences on multi-national corporations and host countries,which should not be just avoided,but can be the impulse for multinationals' development.The key is to take different approaches according to cultural differences for bettering cultural fusion, establishing an appropriate,excellent and advanced corporate culture,which can be used as an assistant of managers and instructions.From the theories of establishing multinationals' culture,this article comparatively analyzes the main features of western corporate culture represented by European and American enterprises,the eastem corporate culture represented by Japanese enterprises and the complex corporate culture represented by Singapore enterprises as well as the similarity plus discrepancy in comparison with Chinese culture.On this basis,the status quo of Chinese multinationals and specific cultural practices is analyzed,meanwhile,the questions on Chinese multinationals' culture establishment is proposed,which includes how to avoid deep-seated cultural differences effectively for seeking common ground while reserving differences;how to use "overriding" mode flexibly to carry forward the Chinese essence with thinking highly of individual cultural differences,thus to set sight on the unification of basic culture.The most important one is the way of leaming from each other to build a corporate culture with complementary and cooperation through " fusion "and" innovation ",so that cultural conflict could grow into the promotion of enterprise culture and fully reflects his enthusiasm.Finally,this paper believes that a corporate culture based on people-oriented,to advance with the times and the development of innovative ought to be established for the sake of solving the problems brought by cultural differences.Take Saint-Gobain Group where I've worked as an example,its current merits,shortcomings and features are analyzed in this article,as a result,the direction and improvements of its cultural establishment is worked out.For I've spent long time in multinationals and a large number of firsthand materials have been collected based on my experience,this article holds the characteristic of combining empirical and theoretical studies as well as strong practice. |
