Human economic activity is based on two basic premises: (1) the exploitation and utilization of natural resource, just means the selection of resource utilization pattern. (2) Choose a suitable environment as activity place. Throughout the history of human development and natural evolution, resource utilization pattern and sustainable livelihood are interdependent and closely connected as a whole. A series of problems, such as which pattern of resource utilization to choose or how to carry out the program of sustainable livelihood and so on, arouse close attention among world governments, academe and public opinion. Human being is going to check our absurd exercise again and think about human development history rationally. On coordinating the relationship between resource utilization pattern and community livelihood, china is lacking experience. Therefore, studying the relationship between resource utilization pattern and community livelihood plays a great important role of theoretical and practical significance. The findings suggest that the local relationship between resource utilization pattern and community livelihood is in the stage of lightly coupled of positive correlation. It means their trends which are toward the same direction are not obvious. According to the analysis of reasons, it puts forward countermeasures and suggestions. Through example analysis, it is effective and feasible to introduce coupling model to evaluate the relationship between resource utilization pattern and community livelihood. And then the model will provide a good platform for future research.
