Research On The Competition Relationship Between High-speed Railway And Other Transport Ways

Orderly competition between High-speed railway and other transport ways can increase the transport capacity, reduce the cost of different transport ways, improve the quality of service, and deploy resources of transportation. But disorder competition has negative effect on the fair competition and the efficiency. The competitive power of high-speed railway and how to deal with the competition relationship between high-speed railway and other transportation ways, take good advantage of each transport ways, is the question which needs thorough analysis.Firstly, this paper analyzes the technico-economic characteristics of different transport ways, the macroscopic environment of domestic passenger transportation market and the competition environment of High-speed Railway. It makes the conclusion that as a new transport way, the High-speed Railway meets the requirement of passenger transport market and sustainable development. But with the development and innovation of other transport ways, it will face more and more fierce competition.Secondly, this paper compares and analyzes the cost and price of each transport ways between Beijing and Shanghai. It comes to the conclusion that comparing with air transport, high-speed railway has cost advantage, and 0.4 Yuan/person of km is feasible and competitive in the long-distance transport.Finally, it analyzes the behaviors of customers' when they select transport ways and the factors that impact their choices. A utility function is established to evaluate the transport ways. Then the LOGIT model is used to calculate passenger transportation sharing rate of the High-speed Railway. Take the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway as the example and make the conclusion that the high-speed railway has shown great advantage in the middle and short distance transport, but in the long-distance passenger transport, high-speed railway has less competitiveness than the air transport.
