The Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) is one of the hot issues in the academic circle today.Among all the discussions rise two problems: one is that there still is much disagreement in defining the connotation of their social responsibility;the other is that most of the relevant research work is only conducted under the micro background of Enterprise instead of specific business.Despite the initial research on the tourism enterprises, there is still blank on the hotels,which,as a result,leads to unclear understanding of their social responsibility and hinder hotels to fulfill and advocate their social responsibility.Chinese hotels are on the path of collectivization and globalization. However,compared with those multinational hotels or national groups, they are left far behind in fulfilling their social responsibility and in the sense of social responsibility.This thesis,based on a thorough analysis of the theory and practice of the Corporate Social Responsibility,defines the connotation of their social responsibility aiming at the characteristics of hotel industry;and establishes a content system of social responsibility after a careful study about how the domestic and foreign hotel groups fulfill their social responsibility.In addition,to get a clear picture of the social responsibility of the hotels in China,the paper,in the way of questionnaire surveys on public and experts and detailed interviews on 58 hotels with stars,makes a demonstrative study on the status quo of their social responsibility,and analyzes the responsibility of various hotels with different stars,different profit-making ability,different ownership and different stage in growth.In the end,this thesis proposes relevant suggestions on strengthening the social responsibility of the hotels mainly including the following four aspects:government adjustment and interfering management,increase of business criteria,self-restrain of hotels and social evaluation and direction of public opinion.
