According to the characteristics of the timber market, this article described the trade in modern China's major timber classified described the market and introduced the main line with its modern period of China's timber trade in the evolution of domestic law, pointed out that the formation of the timber market and timber is generally modes of transport associated with the construction of railways and port development in modern times many of the emerging shape of the timber market. By the analysis of China's timber import and export number, this article pointed out that in modern times the number of China's timber imports than exports, and the amount of trade deficit has increased year by year, the major trade nations are Japan, the United States and Russia, and international trade receives the imperialism to a large extent by the Empire and the control and influence. After the founding of the nation, the Northeast national forest area and the south collective forest region is the timber main production area, but under the planned economy system, the domestic timber circulation receives the strict limit, the foreign economical contact are also few, the timber commodity is mainly the home production and carries on the appropriation according to the allocation plan.
