China's foreign trade container transportation has experienced a phase of rapid growth. The average annual growth rate of the whole nation's port container traffic is about 30.3% from 2001 to 2006, and that of Xiamen port is about 24.1%. XIPC is the main service provider of Xiamen port's international container trade, whose business development is facing new opportunities and challenges brought about by the changes in the internal and external environment. On the basis of the study of XIPC's business development situation and its advantages, through case analysis of business operation and competition environment, and from the viewpoint of business value chain, the thesis intends to analyze its competitive edges and discuss how to enforce its competitive development strategy by strengthening its competitive edges. As the result of the study, it's suggested that XIPC adopt "concentration of differentiation" as its operation competition strategy, resort to internal reform and operation renovation to strengthen its competitive advantages in "concentration of differentiation", as well as enhance its service efficiency, consolidate and intensify XIPC's leading position among southeast coastal ports in the field of international container business. The measures and plans proposed in the thesis are not only of guiding value to XIPC's business competition and development, but also can be used for reference for other similar enterprises.
