In the 20th century, mankind has created unprecedented material wealth, accelerating the process of the civilization development, and has caused a global resource depletion, environmental pollution and ecological damage. It brings a serious threat to human survival and development. Faced with an increasingly serious ecological and environmental crisis, how to coordinate the resources, the environment and human development has become the most concerned social issues. From the 1980s to the late human society has started going all out to promote such "protect environment, respect for nature, promote sustainable development" as the core "Green era." To conserve energy and resources, environment protection and achieve sustainable development as the main theme of the green mode become the new trend of the equipment maintenance future development.With the modern equipment large, sophisticated and automated development, equipment maintenance is increasingly becoming an indispensable basis for industry in the national economy. Mechanical product life cycle consist of several stages such as design, manufacture, use and maintenance and eventually scrapped, and how to make equipment maintenance cause the environment small impacts, high resource utilization, as well as maximize the protection of the maintenance staff safety. In view of this, in the process of equipment maintenance in implementing the strategy of sustainable development and clean production model, it is necessary to carry out the green maintenance.First, this paper discusses the basic connotation of green maintenance, and analyses the conception between green maintenance and traditional maintenance, green design and of green manufacturing, and illustrates green maintenance content and characteristics, as well as stating green maintenance system model.Secondly, based on the equipment total life cycle considerations, it considers the three areas of the green maintainability design, the green maintenance technology and the green processing technology. In the green maintainability design, it focuses on the product material selection, modular design and designing for disassembly and recycling. In the green maintenance technology, it concerns the fault diagnosis technology, proactive maintenance technology and clean maintenance technology. In the processing technology, it analyzes remanufacturing engineering and surface engineering. Finally, the paper studies on the green maintenance evaluation system, and establishes the green maintenance evaluation index system. According to the state standards, related industry standards and relevant statistical data, it establishes the referred standard matter element of green maintenance. It adopts fuzzy element matter analysis method, establishes evaluation model and analyzes the evaluation result.
