In 1990, C.K. Frahalad and Gary Hamel published Core Competence of Enterprise on Harvard Business View, which raised the upsurge of research on core competence of enterprises in academic and business circles. But until now, the theory of core competence is still in a"jungle"stage and has not yet come to an accepted concept in academia.Science of complexity in system science is a new kind of developing science, its characteristic is to use the no-linear way to carry on research. Comparing with classical science, science of complexity could accord with the real world further.Many scholars have done lots of research on how to appraise core competence of enterprises and have brought forward metric models where some problems exist, chiefly owing to the deficiency of metric base and implement. Applying System Science and through analyses on core competence of enterprises, this paper establishes an appraisal model of core competence of enterprises based on System Science, brings forward a metric base for appraising core competence of enterprises through analyzing metric index models commonly-used for appraising core competence of enterprises.Using the latest achievements and methods of science of complexity, this paper has carried on deeply research on the core competence of enterprise.
