Accompanied with the deepened reform of the power system and the sustainable development of electric construction in our country, the big- and medium-sized enterproses of exploration and design for electric power are not only encountering a key period of reform and transconformation, but also confronting a good chance of accelerative development. Meanwhile, opening and regulating market as well as growing competition also force the enterproses to face various severe challenges. Therefore, Anhui Electric Power Design Institute (AEPDI) should be badly in need of studying and formulating scientific development strategy for enterprose to meet challenges, thereby seizing more chances to further promote the development of the enterprose.This paper systemically introduced and analyzed basic statuses, and macroscopic milieu exterieur and competition environment of this industry, and further discussed inner resources and faculty, as well as core capability in AEPDI using PESTN assay, Five Bauds' competitive models, Boston's matrix method, matrix analysis of core ability, etc.According to analysis of external and internal environment in AEPDI, AEPDI's development strategies are as follows: i) basing on Anhui province, depending on the foundation of electric power, leading design, targeting three extension and multielement development; ii) strengthening the enterprose via talent, prospering the institute by technology, casting spirit with culture; iii) developing AEPDI as the first-class and modern enterprose of "One Powerful and Three Excellence" with international competitive ability containing function of consulation and design in China.This paper also evaluated advantages and disadvantages of internal environment, as well as chance and risk of external environment in AEPDI by SWOT analysis, and further made a quantitative analysis using matrix evaluation for various internal and external factors. The results indicate that in AEPDI, the external chance equals to risk, or risk is slightly larger than chance; internal advantage is notably larger than disadvantage. Next, using a chart from SWOT analysis, which was carried out an evaluation for comparative and selective strategies, we confirmed the mode of development strategy of "Associated multi-management, sustainable and stable development" in AEPDI. Based on above conclusion, we produced the business development direction and strategy of AEPDI was, addressing "Anhui-Power-Design" as business fundamental basis, "District-Industry-Product" as promotion way, active and stabe progradation of correlated diversification, and maintenance of business development with harmony and order.To implement AEPDI's development strategy and goal, this paper provided four implementary measures such as "Renewing management ideas; Implementing three extensions; Strengthening three Sustentations; Accelerating two transforms". In the end, the results in the thesis were summarized, and more extended thoughts for this research were also provided.
