Research On Upgrading Of China Automobile Industry Clusters Under The Global Value Chain Governance Mode Changing

Because of the globalization, industry clusters becomes a more and more important economic developing mode in industry organizations. In many countries industry clusters also come to be the most important power of development of regional economy. Global value chain theory & global value chain theory of governance are useful tools which can used in local industry clusters. The modes of global value chain governance divided into four kinds: arm's length market\ network\ quasi-hierarchy\ hierarchy. Different govern characteristics of different governance modes leads that there are many upgrading opportunities for industry clusters in developing country for the governance modes changing. So the opportunities that China automobile industry clusters have are what this thesis focus on.This thesis reviews the history of the world automobile industry clusters in different countries, using global value chain theory of governance to analyze the developing modes and draws a conclusion about the upgrading opportunities that the global value chain governance mode changing gives developing countries clusters. The research shows that China automobile industry clusters are in hub-and-spoke mode, so the enterprise in hub could increase production scale and catch the core techniques through the positive cooperation with the multinational automobile manufacturers, and have more relations in clusters to foster the independent supplier's system and strengthen the international competitive ability. While the enterprise in spoke should embed the global value chain that multinational automobile manufacturers leads to obtain the external resources, stride the international market barrier and enter the world niche market.
