Research On China's Silk Export Trade

China is the cradle of the world's silk industry. It has a long history about five thoustand and five hundred years up to the present. Silk industry is a traditional export-oriented industry. Now China is the biggest country of silk production and silk exportation in the world. The development of China's silk export trade has an effect not only on the relationship of the world's silk supply and demand market, but also on the development of China's silk industry. These years, China has been pushing the course of liberty on the textile trade and carrying the "east silk moves to west" program into execution. The silk industry of circumjacent countries such as India,Thailand etc, have been developing very fast. Nowadays the external and internal environment of the China's silk export trade has been changing all the time and facing a lot of challenges. Therefore, Doing research on the China's silk export trade has not only theoretical value but also practical value.The thesis uses the Spearman rating coefficient to calculate the spearman coefficient between the amount of China's silk export trade and the international silk price. The thesis also uses the adjusted Goldberg & Knetter model to calculate the China's silk market power on Japan,Italy and America. It analyzes the China's silk competitive power by using the TC index,RCA index and CA index. It also calculates the relative price elasticity coefficient by using the Johansen and Granger Test. Finally, the thesis puts forward the policies on improving the China's silk export trade and China's silk competitive power.The research shows that, first of all, China has some silk great power in the world. The Japan has the biggest market power on the China's silk products, the reasons why the deviation between the theoretical and real market power are that the low vertical diversity products and low competitive price between the export enterprises; Second, the China's silk export trade has relative competitive advantage but the advantage is taking off; Third, the facts that affect the China's silk export trade are that domestic silk production,foreign silk demand,relative silk price and silk consumption habits; Fourth, we have to emphasis on system arrangement of silk export trade in order to make our country has the world's great power on silk export trade.
