This paper mostly researches and analyzes the application of modern project management theory in the engineering management course. Under the support of modern engineering technical subject, economic subject, management subject, organizational behavior subject and information technical subject, as a youthful subject, with fast development, engineering project management comes into being a subject system with particular theory, ken, technique and method stage by stage. Engineering construct project management is a important branch of project management, through the systemic application of project management technic such as planning, schedule and control to building industry field, thereby the object can be accomplished that guarantee project quality, shorten the project time limit for a project, increase investment returns Combining with the circumstance of current engineering project building industry, taking the core content of building project management as a substance, integrating with author's own practical experience of project management, from various angles including owners and other respective participant units for engineering project management, this paper gives a general presentation of how to succeed in project by scientific and normative operation in course of modern engineering project management. There are three sections of the paper. It starts with the definition of engineering project management, and discusses the theory and practical significance of modern engineering project management combining with existent problems in project management nowadays. Section Two(chapter 1,2,3,4,5,6) discusses the operation and management in a whole engineering project systemically from the angle of process control. Process control plays a pivotal role in project management, which contains such as each pivotal segment likes prepare to construct, design, tender, construct ,check and acceptance, after-appraisement and so on. Section Three(chapter 7,8,9,10,11) emphasizes particularly on object control and expands on it, the author makes a comparative in-depth research respectively and surrounds the important segment such as time limit for a project, quality, size, risk, expenditure and so on. In course of object control, essential process under control involve launch, conversion, feedback, contrast, amendment, if there is lack of some or other in them, then the validity of control will be reduced and the effect of object control will be influenced. At the end it resents the development trend of engineering project management, on the basis of containing engineering entire process management according to above paragraphs, at the same time using international beneficial experience for reference, up to date production and development direction of the engineering build project management in our country are reflected. This paper pays regard to practicability, maneuverability and architectonic emphases of project management, strives for combining essential theory of management subject and project management with particularity of modern engineering project.There are something need explain simultaneously, every participant side all has the issue on project management in a engineering project, but different side does not go all the way on economic benefit. With the classical technique or method applied in engineering project management, it is general for every participant side, but for some special theories and models, from different angle of view, they are unable to go all the way. Partial introductive sections in this paper are only described from the owner's angle of view, they are inapplicable for engineering project contractor.
