This article utilized the modern economics' theory of production and the analysing method of efficiency to analyze the productive efficiency of China's live pig industry comprehensively and make postive analysis of the influencing factors. The purpose of the study is to make a reasonable judgement of the current productivity's growth and the technical efficiency of our country's live pig industry, find out the live pig industry's developing road to reduce the cost of production, change the growing mode of production to realize intensive development under the condition of the existing resources and propose policy recommendations. On one hand, it can make up for the current study on the pig breeding industry, on the other hand, it can provide theoretical basis for the goverment making reasonable industry's policies to guide the pig breeding industry's healthy development of China. This thesis is composed by five parts:The first part is the article's preface, which introduced the article's issues, purposes, significance, the review of the literature and researching methodology, objectives and technical route, and the possible innovations and insufficiencies.The second part includes chapters II and III. It depicts our country's live pig industry's supply, demand and the cost and cost's change of production. According to the production of live pigs supply, demand and change of the different breeding scales' cost, the article summarized that there was a great potential development for China's pig industry, and the scale level had been improving, but it still faced with problems of low cost-benefit rate, the high impact on the level of benefits by live pig's market prices and production costs, and lack of reasonable input and output feeding and management standards.The third part is the article's Chapter IV, which is the core of the thesis. The article firstly introduced the efficiency theory and measuremet methods in this part, and gave details of the article's needed method and model, which was prepared for the following positive Analysis. Then the article measured the technical efficiency, purely technical efficiency, scale efficiency and the change of total factor productivity of our country's pig productionby using Data envelopment analysis. The results of the production efficiency demonstrated scale, district and timing features in six years. Most provinces' technical efficiency are equal to or close to 1, and the growth's rates of technical efficiency, technological progress and total factor productivity are slow. Our country need to bring into new technology and strengthen the promotion of new technologies to enhance the efficiency of pig production.The fourth part is the Chapter V, which is the third part's deepening. By using the Tobit model to analyze the related influencing factors of the live pig's productive efficiency beyond the input and output indicators, the result showed that the structure of the feedingstuff, the level of economic development and scientific and cultural levels of rural residents, natural factors and the pigs' disease all significantly influenced the live pig productive efficiency.The fifth part is the final chapter of the thesis. It summarized the basic conclusions of this article, and proposed relevant policy recommendations for the the pig breeding industry's sustained and healthy development.
