At present, the problem of the "village-in-city" transformation is a hot topic, which is urgently needed to be solved during the course of urbanization in our country. As the main body, villagers are the basic and decided power for the transformation. Only by transforming the villagers, can we improve the velocity and the efficiency of the transformation. The villages' urbanization and the villagers' transforming into citizen is the essence of the transformation. The villagers' transforming into citizen is a long-term, and complex social systematic project, which involves much content, including the transformation of the status, the idea, the occupation, the life style, the behavior, and the social relations and so on. In this thesis, we take the "village-in-city" of Taiyuan as an example, and focus on the youth. The socialization plays its function at the aspects of the youth's transforming into citizen in the "village-in-city". No matter the socialization or the transforming into citizen, the process makes it clear that the modernized quality is the key. It is needed not only for the modernization of society, but also for the youth's transforming into citizen in the "village-in-city". Therefore, we concern the modernized quality of the youth in the "village-in-city" directly. Furthermore, we discuss the correlation between the modernized quality and their employment condition. It is no doubt that defining the modernized quality, which is the core concept in the thesis, is the key and difficult point. We have referred to the US sociologist Inkeles' classical theory about the modernized quality, and adopted completely the ten measuring dimensions from his analytic model for the use of defining the modernized quality in the thesis. Meanwhile, we operate the abstract concept into ten indexes, which are easy to measure on the experience level. This job is a very important preparation for the data processing and analysis.Since it is an empirical study, the theory hypothesis needs to be put forward, and the corresponding explanation needs to be made according to the obtained data. Thus, there are three hypotheses to be explained: first, the youth in the "village-in-city" belongs to the type of "the transition person", and its modernized quality manifests the characteristic which integrate the tradition and modern; second, there is the possible intrinsic correlation between the individual quality and the employment condition of youth in the "village-in-city", and the change of the modernized quality will have the influence on the employment of them; third, the modernized quality is the endogenous factor for the youth's transforming into citizen, and also the determining factor. After the data processing and analysis, we launch the discussion about the modernized quality and the employment condition of the youth, and draw the conclusion: first, the ten dimensions have played the role in measuring the degree of the youth's modernized quality. We can find the middle item of each variable's value presents relatively frequent from the central tendency. It means that the modernized quality of the youth is in the state of transition from tradition to modern. Second, it is nine dimensions of the core concept that present the correlation with the employment. Thus, the second hypothesis has been supported by the empirical data. It is acceptable that the change of the modernized quality will have the influence to the employment condition of the youth. In addition, we concentrate on discussing the restrictive factors and the breakthrough methods of improving the youth's modernized quality. Finally, as to the explanation to the third hypothesis, we believe that the improvement of the modernized quality is the essence of the youth's transforming into citizen by the qualitative analysis.
