The Study Of Container Liner Shipping Industry Between China And Japan Based On SCP Model

On Sep 2006, the "Zero Freight" and "Negative Freight" in the container liner shipping industry between China and Japan attracted so much attention from authority to public that a series of government orders were enacted by Ministry of Communications and other transportation administrations for the prohibition of the same, however the effect was limited.For better analysis and showing the real circumstance of the container liner shipping industry between China and Japan, this paper introduces the "Structure—Conduct—Performance Model"(namely SCP Model) from Industry Organization Theory.In the first place, this paper gives a brief introduction of the circumstance of the trade and container liner shipping industry between China and Japan, and makes a prediction about the annual container volumes of 2007 and 2008 in this shipping line by Linear Regression Theory.In the second place, this paper makes a ordinal empirical researches about the Structure, Conduct and Performance of the container liner industry between China and Japan.In the last chapter about the public policies, the author analyses the policies have already been enacted as well as their effect. By comparing the circumstances between other international container shipping lines, the author gives some proposals and suggestions about enacting the public policies of container liner shipping industry between China and Japan.
