Motorola Networks section is one of the important Motorola factories in Tianjin. The main job for this factory is to R&D and produces the Network components for wireless telecommunication system. The GSM production line is the only one production base in Asia-Pacific region. The main product is Horizon Base Transceiver station. Unfortunately, it met the problem of low FTY rate and high scrap rate at the beginning of mass production and this cannot meet the design goal. To solve the problem, the key managers set up a special team to find the essential reason and to improve it. This thesis introduces some major problems on GSM Radio production line, and gives a detail introduction of the famous 6 Sigma methodology of Motorola quality management, which was used in the team research course. This paper used DMAIC (6 Sigmas process) to define, measure, analyze, improve and control the problem re-happen. At meanwhile, this paper uses lots of SPC knowledge to analyze the issues, to achieve the FTY rate and the quality improvement goal. Finally, this paper introduced Motorola's quality audit process to state the importance of improving the quality system. The entire problem-solving process stated in this paper is strictly following the 6-sigma rules. This will helpful for the actual quality management activities...
