China's Export Of Small Household Electrical Appliance Research

As the world economic integration and the process of China's successful accession to the World Trade Organization, the economy relationship between china and world has become more closely. As the fastest growing exports of mechanical and electrical products in recent years, Small household electrical appliances has become important force for the expansion of export for machinery and electronic productsOn the basis of relevant international trade theory,This paper has made a systematical research on export situation and export competitiveness of China's small household electrical appliances and the effect of consumption safety measures and consumption-generated pollution measures in major exporting countries and regions on the export of China's small household electrical appliances.China has become the world's largest exporter for small household electrical appliance of whose export scale has increased year by year in recent years. The following characteristics are for the export structure of China's small household electrical appliances: exports for kitchen small household electrical appliances are greater than those of the personal life small household electrical appliances; exports for new small household electrical appliances are greater than those of traditional ones; the processing trade is the main way of export and other trade has a fast growth. Foreign-funded enterprises are the main exporter while the number of private enterprises is large but no scale. From the view of country ,The export market for China's small household electrical appliances are mainly in United States, Germany, Britain, Japan and China's Hong Kong; From the view of region, they are mainly in North America, Europe and Asia while the exports to the South Africa and the Arab regions are very little. China's exports of small household electrical appliances have some problems such as that small household electrical appliances enterprises are by the margin of profit and the exports concentration is too high to increase the exports risks and overseas after-sales service systems are imperfect.Since 1996, the export competitiveness of our small household electrical appliances has been in a rapid stage of the upgrade. Four international competitiveness indicators reflect the same results basically. Indicator of International market share reflects that China's small household electrical appliances have been accounting for half the international market; Indicator of revealed comparative advantage reflects that the comparative advantage of our small household electrical appliances is much greater than other countries'. 19 kinds of appliances in 25 have strong export competitiveness; Trade competitiveness indicator reflects China's small household electrical appliances have super export competitiveness because it almost only exports but no imports, the export advantage variation index reflect that compared with other export commodities, since 2004 the export growth of China's small household electrical appliances has been in a slowdown trend, export advantage has weakened relatively.Some developed countries'consumption safety measures and consumption-generated pollution measures have positive and negative influences on our country's export of small household electrical appliance. The positive influence is that in the long run those measures can promote china's small household electrical appliance enterprises to achieve technological innovation in order to meet the developed countries'standards and can keep and enhance china's small household electrical appliances export competitiveness. The negative one is that on one hand, those measures will increase the export cost of our country's small household electrical appliance enterprises. On the other hand those measures can ban and restrict the export. On the basis of the theoretical models, analyzing on the EU WEEE's effects on our country's Irons and hairdryers'export to the Germany and United kingdom and France, the results are that the consumption safety measures and consumption-generated pollution measures can restrict the export of our country's small household electrical appliance.
