Dong, Zhikai started her career at Institute of Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1978 and has since grown and matured academically along with the development of Research Center of China's Modern Economic History at the Institute. In 30 years of research career, her research included topics such as the history of land reform in the liberated areas during Chinese Civil War, the compilation of economic archive and composition of economic history of People's Republic of China, and the history of China's investment in fixed assets after 1949. At the same time, she has also formed a distinct characteristic scholarly and made outstanding academic achievement. This paper will sort, analyze, and evaluate Dong, Zhikai's achievement and contribution to the research on Chinese modern economic history and investigate her academic concepts and ideas on economic history. Such goal will be achieved by drawing on the basis of previous studies, through usage of the theory and method of historical materialism, and combining with her academic history and progress.
