The Research Of The Mutual Construction Mechanism Between The Production And Life In The View Of Consumption

The social development paradigm of"Production / Life Mutual Construction"is developed in the background of a new ear by Professor Wang Yalin. By stressing that the endogenous status of life, the research paradigm suggests that the interactive generation of the production and life and the construction of each other promote the development of human society together. And this study aims to make a further explanation of the relationship between the Production and Life in the paradigm by using the sociological method of construction of ideal types. In order to make a theoretical exploration of the specific mechanism of the construction between production and life, the relationship between the production of consumer goods and the consumer life is brought to the focus and is analyzed on the two trails of the alienation of production and the construction of life.In the development of western industrial society, while the production of consumer goods changed from the workforce of physical shape to the commercialization and symbolization of products, the consumer life correspondingly experienced an evolution from the life of laborer to the life of standardization and nothingness. From meeting the consumers'daily needs in the pre-industrial society, to an abstract currency in the industrial society, and finally developed to the self-organized and self-running system of material, the consumer goods have not only created a bureaucratic system including the symbolic signs, expert system, media, advertisement, stars, national states and enterprises, but also planted the values of consumerism of more possession, more consumption and faster renewal into the minds of consumers. And the life of consumer is swallowed up in all aspects, from the relationship between the consumer and himself, to that between himself and others and the same as the nature.Confronting a world of consumer goods alienated by production, the only possible program to achieve the freedom of consumption, on the one hand, is to return the subjectivity of life by the reflection to the consumer life and the system of action, on the other hand, is to establish the system of meaning by linking himself to his own, to others and to the nature under the guideline of existential life ethics. And the former shows the consumer's independence of an existent in the role of a liver while the latter shows the attribution. When the consumer shakes off the shackles of consumer goods and re-links himself to the world around himself as a free and independent individual, the construction of consumer life will become possible.
