Study On The Transition Of Resource-based Cities

As a city of specific type , resource-based cities have contributed a lot to our nation's economy . Their forms , developments , and recessions are reliable on the resource , which makes resource-based cities highly depend on their resource . Owing to the limit of reserves , resource-based cities are easy to fall into the crisis of city-decay . In 1830's , the foreign scholars began to focus on this subject , since 1990's , some resource-based cities in our country were faced with series of problems such as economic recession and environmental aggravation , thus lead domestic scholars to pay much attention to this subject. The difficulties , which resource-based cities met with , do harm to the development of local economy and society . Therefore , succeed or not to transition not only relates to the national economy , but also to social stability .Thus, the conversion of resource-based cities play a key role in the whole country and research on it is of important value .The problem , how to keep resource-based cities developing further , is becoming an universal thesis . Because of different government function and economic system , arguments related to this subject in the international environment are mostly centering on social problem and solution to it, while, domestic arguments concentrate upon the problem about how to make the resource-based cities develop harmoniously . Moreover, in practice , resource-based cities in our country are confronted with many obstacles. So , this paper does not get any conclusion on how do resource-based cities fulfill their conversion . It aims at giving some valuable proposals . On the basis of the summary and reviewing of achievements on this subject , this paper has done the research on the model of transition and enhancement about their competitive ability .This paper includes seven sections : the first section puts forward the background and meaning of the research goal ; the second section of this paper , summary on some correlative theories is done ; in the third section , explains some conceptions , mainly about what is resource-based cities; the fourth section discusses the choosing of transition-model ; then in the fifth part , experience are introduced from foreign countries by selecting several cities as case which have successfully finished their transition ; the sixth section sets forth the re-forming of the regional competition advantage ; the last section takes Dong Ying city as a case to put up demonstration further. As we all know , the economic transition of Dong Ying city has made great progress, its' economic and social development have stepped the right way , but there still are some deficient places to resolve . It is obvious that there are many shortages in the paper, improvement will be done later.
