Nowadays, with the further development of information, network and globalization, market environment enterprises face becomes more and more comparative, as a result, enterprise's pressure increases day after day. The tight integration of entities network with the virtual one has become the chief object of logistical demand and the direction of logistical industry. With the birth of virtual logistics enterprises, the modern logistics also appeared to be virtual in the developing procession.Faced with the growing demand of customers, the competency of individual enterprises and virtual enterprises depend on the value they have created. The value that customers can feel is transferred by the enterprises, and it is also the value of enterprise. Therefore, the modern market competition has become the confrontation of the value chain.Through operation process reengineering to provide service, guided by the virtual enterprise theory, taking customer demand as setting our point, this paper proposes to set up virtual distribution center in order to resolve structural surplus of logistics resources. The paper is divided into the following five parts:The first part of the paper is theory summary of the virtual enterprise, virtual logistics, virtual distribution center, the value chain, and other basic theory.The second part is virtual distribution center definitions, characteristics and its operation principle. Based on the theories mentioned in the first part and combined with the definition of distribution centers and concept of virtual distribution center studied by other scholars, this part discusses the connotation of virtual distribution center, a comparative analysis of the characteristics of virtual distribution center, clarifies its basic functions, operation principles and supported platforms.The third part is virtual value chain of the distribution center. This part discusses the concept of distribution centers value chain and its components, and then analyses virtual value chain features of distribution center based on industry, internal and competitors.Part four establishes the value chain of virtual distribution center. Based on the former research about value chain of distribution center, this part first analyses the principles and the key contributing factors affected the value chain of virtual distribution center, and then proposes five stages of establishing value chain of virtual distribution center, such as targeting, building VCT, designing value chain and achieving value chain.Part five is about evaluation of the value chain of virtual distribution center. After establishing an evaluation criterion of maximizing customer value, this part creates the evaluation index of value chain of virtual distribution center, and evaluation model using the method of the analytic hierarchy.
