Research On The TMT Evolutionary Mechanism In The Enterprises Based On Individual Ecology

Outstanding top managers in the enterprises are the main driver of its sustained competition. Along with the fast pace of the global economic integration, the ever-improving information revolution, the trend of diversification of organizational tasks and the close collaboration within the business sectors, the top managers of the enterprises have been confronted with new challenges, which forcing their leading way changed. As the former mode of a single leader has been difficult to adapt itself to the fierce competition, Top Management Team (TMT) should be established to lead the development of enterprises. Following with this trend, the research direction of the academics has transferred from the study of the individual characteristics, behavior and leadership style of a single leader to the study of the top management team.For the development of TMT, evolution means much more than construction and team ecology means much more than a single top manager's achievement. Taking lately literatures as basis, this paper viewed the TMT as an artificial life body, and then systematically and comprehensively revealed its evolutionary mechanism under the effect of TMT life system and ecological factors, applying Theory of Corporate Borders, Self-organization Theory, Synergy Theory and et al. The evolutionary mechanism of TMT included TMT evolutionary process, TMT evolutionary principle and TMT optimization mechanism.First and foremost, the paper regarded the TMT as a life body, explored the issues among the four stages of its life cycle (i.e. Incubation Stage, Birth Stage, Operation Stage and Dying-out Stage) in detail, and discussed the conceptual model of the evolutionary process based on the Team Life Circle Theory. Besides, the principle of TMT formation stage (including Incubation Stage and Birth Stage) was analyzed by the research on TMT formation opportunity, TMT ecological factor which affect its formation and TMT optimal scale. Furthermore, in order to reveal the principle of TMT operation system, the research analyzed the impact of TMT life system and ecological factors on the TMT strategic behavior, and then described the self-organization process in the evolution of TMT. Last but not least, the paper constructed the evaluation model for the total synergy degree of TMT so that enterprises can recognize bad genes and cells in the TMT life body and limited ecological factors in the environment, provided several optimization paths, and built the optimization test model to predict if the optimal scheme can achieve the desired effect.
