After more than twenty years' reform and open-door policy, SMEs(Small and Medium-sized enterprises) have become main type in Zhejiang province. The SMEs which are of great quantity and spread broadly are the foundation of economy of Zhejiang province and the source of the vitality; They can't be substituted as for the national economy and society development. While with the swift development of the economic globalization, further development of the reform in china, the coming of knowledge economy and the heat competition of the market at home and abroad, the environment faced by SMEs has changed significantly. Then lots of contradiction and restriction accumulate gradually. Inquiring into the actual growth situation of SMEs in Zhejiang deeply, we know the condition isn't optimistic. Essence of the growth problem for SMEs is that the variation of environment results in the variation of factors which influence enterprises' growing. That makes its growth pattern meet obstacle factors. Thus, it is important to generalize the growth pattern systematically, analyze their growth way and rules , realize the main obstacles to face and relatively put forward some countermeasures and suggestions to promote of development of SMEs.This article begins the study with theory summarization. Meanwhile by systematically concluding the concepts of SMEs at home and abroad , the theory of enterprise development and enterprise development patterns, defining the relative concept, this article first analyses the present situation about the growth of SMEs in Zhejiang province, and further concludes the enterprise growth patterns. Secondly we choose some typical cases of enterprise growth patterns to study deeply. Base on the above, we analyze the obstacle factors step by step which the SMEs in Zhejiang face during their growing. We got statistical information by making questionnaire survey we identify main obstacle factors that influence SMEs' growth by applying hierarchical analytic approach. Finally aiming at these obstacles, we propose some ways and countermeasures to promote enterprises' growth by the reference of overseas success experience.
