Retail is one of the most important sections of the national economic, and in the middle of the industrial chain, which links the factories and consumers. Usually, the development trend of the retail reflects a country's overall economic prospect. Retail is well-know as "the industry of location", which means that location plays a key role in retailing. While chain operation, as the dominating form in retail, is growing very fast all over the world, and it has become a major trend in retail. Thus, study on location has great means to chain retail which has great prospects and develops rapidly in china.In this thesis, through the deep analysis of chain retail in Beijing, it finds a fundamental problem that location is unreasonable, and try to apply Trading area theory to analyze and solve the problemFirst, there is an introduction to Trading area theory, and discuss the means Trading Area analysis to spatial location. Then it makes a deep analysis to chain retail in Beijing, brings out critical problem, such us "store that has a same format concentrate excessively"," Large scale for single store","unsuitable market position" , and analyses how they take place. Last, it makes an empirical analysis on chain retail in Beijing base on theory related to Trading area.
