An Open Source Framework For Multi-Currency Accounting System

With the rapid development of the network and open source framework, some earlier finance systems have become the legacy systems due to that they can't satisfy the requirement of enterprise's development. On one hand, the legacy systems keep a great number of important business logic and data; On the other hand, they have become the bottleneck because of the lack of developers and the low development efficiency. So many enterprises have focused on using more advanced and mature technology to upgrade these legacy systems.This paper introduces a finance system developed in 1970s, named Multi-Currency Accounting System, which is a legacy system as above. It's based on the IBM Mainframe, which keeps lots of business logic and fund data. It's well-used by many users due to its stability, reliability, availability. But it can't satisfy the need because of its high cost and lack of developers. In order to enhance the flexibility to the requirement, cut the development cost and increase system's maintenance and expansibility, developing a framework face to the legacy system is required. Java open source framework and IBM CTG technology provide such a solution to the design.This paper introduces the design and deployment of an open source framework face to Multi-Currency Accounting System. Firstly, it describes the background of the system and the definition of the open source framework. Then it analyses the value of developing such an open source framework with comparing to another open source production for Mainframe system within its advantages and defects. In the next, the paper introduces the architecture of the open source framework, it also tells the relationship and implementation of each module. Then the paper describes the parts of the author improved on, and then it shows a web application base on the framwork. In the end, the paper makes an inclusion and the expectation for the open source framework.
