Japan-ASEAN Regional Economic Cooperation In East Asia Regional Economic Integration

Since the 1970s, the economy of East Asia,which was once praised as the economic miracle of East Asia, has made the remarkable achievement, but this area lacked regional economic cooperative institutions for a long time.After the breaking out and infection effect of Asian financial crisis in 1997 and the guide of the regional economic cooperation of European Union and America , East Asia countries realized the significance of the regional economic cooperative institutions.Since the 1970s, Japan and ASEAN have constructed a series of economic cooperative institutions which kept ahead of the institutionalization of East Asian economic cooperation.In the course of the institutionalization of East Asian regional economic cooperation, Japan-ASEAN regional economic cooperation gives a good demonstration, and powerfully pushes East Asian regional economic cooperation.The paper includes three parts: Introduction,Text (Total:4chapters) and Conclusion.Introduction expatiates the research background, research status quo about the interrelated subject by domestic and foreign scholars, the significance of choosing this research area and research method.ChapterI"The Theory of International Regional Economic Cooperation", introduces the definition of international regional economic cooperation ,seperates the international regional economic cooperation into the functional regional economic cooperation and the institutional regional economic cooperation,dissertates the theory of international institutions in international regional economic cooperation which lays the foundation for the whole paper .ChapterⅡ"Japan—ASEAN Regional Economic Cooperation", analyses the present situation of Japan—ASEAN functional regional economic cooperation from the perspectives of the trade,investment and ODA cooperation between Japan and ASEAN, elaborates the institutionalization of Japan-ASEAN regional economic cooperation and points out the problems in the construction of institutions.ChapterⅢ"Japan, ASEAN and East Asian Regional Economic Cooperation", analyses East Asian economic cooperative institutions and their existing problems, elaborates the status and performance of Japan and ASEAN in East Asian regional economic cooperative institutions, and dissertates the role of East Asian regional economic cooperation for Japan and ASEAN.ChapterⅣ"Japan-ASEAN Regional Economic Cooperation",forcasts the prospect of Japan-ASEAN regional economic cooperation,believes both sides will deepen the economic cooperative relations, broaden the economic cooperative scope, further deepen the development of regional economic cooperative institutions and finally proves that Japan-ASEAN regional economic cooperation will push the institutionalization of East Asian regional economic cooperation.Conclusion dissertates the importance of Japan-ASEAN regional economic cooperative institutions for East Asian regional economic cooperation which has the urgent need for institutionalization.
