Mixed-model assembly line can make specific product in mass production mode. This new production mode is now being more and more adopted by large-scale car-manufacturing enterprises. And study of production sequencing, which is related to this production mode has become focus of study.In combination of production control in this mixed-model assembly line, this paper is focus on the unbalanced work load,provide a good resolve for this shop production control issue and has gotten a good result. First, this paper briefly introduce the automobile mixed-model assembly line, which is used both in abroad and in china. And the meaning of optimizing the production sequence on a mixed-model assembly line is to improve production efficiency. And then introduce the overall status of the study of this mixed-model assembly line production sequencing in the world, the basic principle of GA and its execution steps. This paper then describe the JIT mixed-model assembly line production mode in Shanghai GM, analyse the unbalanced work load, which is caused by difference of assembly process and operation time for different product. This paper then establish the mathematical model of this production sequencing problem, focused on balancing the workload (assembly time) on each workstation. Then use GA to resolve this mathematical model. The C or Visual C++ software is too complicated and not efficient to solve GA problem. This paper develop the MATLAB program, which is based on the former mathematical model. And later using a sample to verify this GA and the MATLAB program. Later, this paper analyse the manufacturing cost, showing this production sequencing method can reduce manufacturing cost and bring value to company. In the end is the summary of this paper and outlook of the mixed-model assembly line production control system.
