Analysis Of Land Use/Cover Change In The Loufan County, China During 1994～2004

Fenhe River is the secondary large branch of the Yellow River. Upper reaches of the Fenhe River is the most important environment area. It not only has relatively independent valley but also is the only water source of Taiyuan. Both the water quality and environment of Taiyuan is always related to the upper reaches of the Fenhe River. Loufan county locates in the upper reaches of the Fenhe River, in northwest of Taiyuan 117 kilometers away. It is the only county which administration area all locates in the valley.This paper divides to three parts, including of five chapters. The first part namely the chapter 1 introduces the research situation of LUCC in the world.The second part is the main part of the paper, insisting of the chapter 2 and the chapter 3. The chapter 2 introduces the source of the data, the content of the data and the data processing. It is the base of the chapter 3, offering the data and technique support. The chapter 3 summarizes the LUCC models of the paper, explaining the meanings of the models and analyzing the results of models. The results show that the usage of the land of Loufan county has changed obviously between 1994 and 2004. The types of land haven't changed in evidence. But the area of each type has great change. The area of farmland and water area have reduced. The farmland area reduced more. The area of grassland, forest, town and unused land has increased. The town area increased most. The utilization of land has increased obviously in the region at the lower elevation;△I increased in minus direction at the 4-7 altitude zone, but it increased as altitude increased at the 8-12 altitude zone. The transformation of town construction land, unused land and water area took place mainly at the lower elevation for much different reason. Field, forest and grassland changed mostly at the higher elevation. Field area decreased at different elevation, obviously between 21°and 25°.The change of land usage and cover is mainly because of the population increase and policy. they made field transformed into town construction land and forest. The economic factor influence the types of land. It transformed land into town construction land or unused land. This paper discussed the change of land usage in ten years. So nature influence can be ignored.The last part summarizes the research of LUCC. It is important to the development of economy and society .
