Research On The Developmental Pattern Of Poverty-stricken Area Small Towns In Western China

In the eleventh "Five-Year Plan" (2006—2010), Chinese government gave important focusing on the growth of small towns and the poverty problem .To solve the poverty problem and to promote the growth of small towns concern the sustainable economic development and the urbanization of rural area in the whole western China (especially the poverty-stricken area), thus research on the developmental pattern of poverty-stricken area small towns in western China became particularly urgent and significant. Setting in this background, this essay has taken the developmental pattern of poverty-stricken area small towns in western China as subject, aiming at offering some theoretical guidelines and practical suggestions to the developmental pattern of poverty-stricken area small towns in western China through in-depth academic analysis and strategic investigation.This essay consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction. It gives a general overview on the background, the abroad research finding on poverty and developmental pattern of small towns and the range, content and significance of this research.The second chapter introduces the basic concept of the developmental pattern of poverty-stricken area small towns. It offers a definition to the "poverty-stricken area" and "developmental pattern of small towns" in western China.The third chapter is about the current situation and features of the developmental pattern of poverty-stricken area small towns in western China. It analyses the basic pattern and the principles in that issue.The last chapter (4-7) is a detailed exposition on four typical developmental patterns of poverty-stricken area small towns in western China. This chapter is the core of this research which has not been ingoing studied abroad. These four patterns are "resource developmental pattern", "tourism developmental pattern", "offsite developmental pattern" and "border-export developmental pattern". It researches on why these patterns fit western China, and give some advise on how to do.
