The study on the optimization of production systems management has developed rapidly in the world which began at 1950's. Based on the study of MRP and JIT, two main advanced production management systems, this paper introduces a more effective production planning and inventory control system——Synchronous Manufacturing(SM).Firstly, according to the thoughts and principles of Optimized Production Technology(OPT), this paper probes into the study basis, basic principles, objectives and criterion of SM, studies the fundamentalmethod of SM production and control——DBR system. Secondly, thispaper makes primary discussion about some major subjects in SM production schedule. The content includes identifying bottleneck resources, ensuring the length of Time Buffer in DBR system, studying the problem of MPS under single bottleneck resources, improving a sort of lot model of bottleneck resources, and presenting the way to solve the lot model. Finally, this paper makes comparison among SM, MRP and JIT systems from the application background, application standard, management method, and operating effect. Meanwhile, this paper makes a simulation comparison among them to demonstrate the effectiveness of SM by using an example.
