Research On The Third-party Logistics Vendor Selection

With the development of economy, the third-party logistics plays an irreplaceable role during the competition of enterprises, but the function can be achieved depends on the ability and level of the third-party logistic vendors. So it is critical for a successful outsourcing of the enterprise to choose them appropriately. But now, the current evaluation index systems and selection methods are very limited, so it is an urgent problem to establish a valid evaluation index system and selection model for selecting the appropriate third-party logistics vendor. Only by establishing an appropriate system of evaluation index and adopting suitable methods, could the accuracy of the evaluation enhance and the most appropriate vendors be chosen for the companies who need logistic services. Thus both sides can more fully exploit their own advantages, and achieve mutual complementarities, collaboration and coordination in business development, which will enhance the competence of the entire supply chain in the market, reaching win-win results.Aiming at resolving the problems of selecting suppliers for the companies, this paper makes an objective remark on the research status both at home and abroad. By analyzing the status of the third-party logistics vendor selection and the influencing factors in the new environment, we devise a new system for selecting and evaluating suppliers on the foundation of making use of the available theories and methods, not only considering the suppliers' professional ability, but also their development capacity and cooperative ability. In addition, we use the FAHP theory to select the third-party logistics suppliers for the companies, and explain the detailed process by illustrating it with a case. Finally an integrated framework of selecting the third-party logistics suppliers for the companies is generally founded.
