An Analysis On The Tourism Urbanization And It's Pattern In Xi'an

Urbanization is a complex process involving social, economic and social factors. Agriculture development is the initial driving force of urbanization; industrialization is the foundation driving force of urbanization, tertiary industry is the propelling driving force of urbanization. In China, tourism is a potential industry of tertiary industry; it could become dominant industry in some areas. Tourism can improve other related industries, so it is regarded as the propelling force of economic development and has drawn much attention of researchers. Tourism-urbanization is a phenomenon that comes along with the development of urbanization and tourism, it is a new way to promote urbanization by tourism.Based on the theory study, taking Xi'an as a case study, we built a comprehensive evaluation system towards the tourism urbanization, analyze the tourism urbanization level from the year 1995 to 2005 by the methods of PCA (Principle component analysis), identified the driving mechanism and pattern of tourism urbanization in Xi'an, and studied the influences caused by tourism urbanization. We also provided some suggestions to cope with the relationship between tourism and urbanizations.The results indicated that (1): Process and influences are important in tourism urbanization, tourism plays a positive role in the urbanization; (2) Tourism urbanization can bring some negative outcomes besides the positive ones, it is necessary to avoid these negative aspects in practices; (3) The level of tourism urbanization not only lies on the tourism income, but more on the long-term development and socio-economic levels; (4) The driving mechanism of tourism urbanization pattern are different among different counties. Downtown belongs to the comprehensive driving type; Lintong belongs to resource driving type; Chang'an, Lantian, Huxian, Zhouzhi belong to demand driving type.
