Residence as one of necessities for human survival plays an indispensable role in their daily lives. Housing industry not only solves people's housing problems, but also promotes social and economic development; it is an important indicator of measuring a country's economy and living standards. Housing industry has a remarkable impact on the entire residential real estate industry and the related industries, environmental and socio-economic habitat. The healthy development of housing market is not only related to the development of domestic industries, but also affecting the overall socio-economic development. In this paper, the author of this paper tries to the residential needs of Chengdu through the way of combining qualitative with quantitative methods.First of all, the concept of the domestic demand was analyzed in the article and several various factors affecting it were stated, such as the level of the national economy, the income of residents and residents of the consumption structure, housing prices, interest rates, the change of population size and structure, urbanization, and policy factors, and so on. The real reasons leading to the current lack of demand for residential for different social status are failure to meet with the appropriate demand of the high-income residential population and lack of the appropriate demand of the middle-income ones. At the same time, we analyze the current status living in Chengdu and yet have an improvement in living level for middle-income or below people. Secondly, this paper analyzes the supply and demand of the future market of Chengdu by comparing the quantitatives of supply with demand. We found that the supply of residence is more than the needs in the future in Chengdu by forecasting by regression analysis and estimates of the curve . The demands of residential are increasing for the next few years also, therefore, there is still a larger space for development in Chengdu.Finally, several proposals for residential market development are recommended through qualitative and quantitative analysis, including residential cost control, control premium which could guide housing prices, to perfect commodity housing supply structure, to improve the residential structure rationally, and to curb speculative by financial means. Meanwhile we keep on increasing effective demand, intensifying supervision from government agencies so as to guide people to purchase rationally, etc.
