A Study On The Coordinated Development Of Urbanization And Regional Economy Of Xinjiang

The process of urbanization and development of regional economy interact and stimulate each other. Generally, the economic development determines the process of urbanization, and the external economy caused by urbanization is the main driving force which promotes economic development. In the important period of achieving coordinated urban-rural development, eliminating the industry-agriculture differences, completely constructing a well-off society in Xinjiang, how to accelerating urbanization and regional economy development , promoting urbanization and regional economy completely coordinated development is the important topic which we need to study.This study based on urbanization and regional economy theory. Firstly, we analyze the urbanization process, the future development trend and the characteristics of Xinjiang, at the same time, analyzing the relation of urbanization and per capita GDP, urbanization and industrialization, urbanization and the tertiary industry. Then by designing a four level index system which consists of one objective level, two sub-systems, five index sign, 19 index items, we respectively calculated urbanization and regional economy comprehensive development index, and used the coordinated development degree to analyze the extent of Xinjiang urbanization and regional economy coordinated development.The main conclusion of this study:(1)From the single factor analysis of urbanization and region economy development, urbanization and per capita GDP are basically consistent,urbanization and industrialization are not obviously related, but urbanization and non- agricultural employment structure is obviously related; there is the obvious relevance between urbanization and tertiary industry.(2)From the vertical and horizontal comparative analysis of coordinated development degree of Xinjiang urbanization and regional economy, in the 1992-2005 years, the urbanization and regional economy has experienced a "disorder-better coordination" process, but compared with other provinces, Xinjiang is still in the stage of preliminarily coordination.(3)According to the above analysis, the paper proposes suggestions from eliminating institution obstacles, adjusting industrial structure, coordinately developing large and medium-sized cities and small towns, improving infrastructure, increasing investment in science and technology, and improving the ecological environment and so on, in order to promote Xinjiang urbanization and regional economy completely coordinated development.
