Private enterprise is an important force in China's economy development. But some problems still exist in its human resources management which seriously affected its own existence and development. Performance management as the key point in human resources management has become critical for the private enterprises to win competitive edge. Therefore, by applying modern and advanced performance management theories to establish scientific and reasonable performance management system and to mobilize the employees' enthusiasm and continuously improve the employees' performance is an important research object in private enterprise management.Starting from the basic theories of performance management, this paper set out the basic procedure of performance management system and examined the merits and shortcoming of four performance review methods that are popular in private enterprises (Balanced Score Card, Key Performance Indicator, Target Management and 360 Performance Appraisal). By analyzing such problems as disconnection between performance management and corporate development strategy, imperfection of performance management system and unscientific setting of indicators in the performance management system existing in performance management in private enterprises, this paper proposed measures on establishing strategy-oriented performance management system, perfecting performance management system and scientifically setting of indicator in the performance management system and pointed out the designing principles and procedures in performance management system as well and problems in implementation of performance management system. Then, based on the abovementioned theories and empirical research and through the in-depth investigations into Hongyuan Automatic Engineering Co., Ltd, this paper decomposed the strategic targets of the company with "fish bone chart method". By combining the work analysis of each department, this paper set out scientific and appropriate performance check system based on which it set the weight of each performance check indicator with strata analysis method, and then established a new performance management system that was suitable for Hongyuan Automatic Engineering Co., Ltd.
