Research On Measurement Of Firm Flexibility And Relationship Between Flexibility And Performance

Along with China joining WTO with and enhancement of influence in global economy, to understand the change of environment and enterprise's strategy becomes more and more important. The increasingly fierce competition has already forced Chinese enterprises to be more flexible than ever before. Promotion of the reform, the disintegrating of barrier to the market qualification, cause the living space where the trans-corporation leave to native enterprise to be smaller and smaller. The conservative and rigid Chinese state-owned enterprise may face going bankrupt, and be replaced by those new enterprises which can be able to adapt to environment easily. So in the face of increased environmental turbulence, Chinese enterprises have no choice except to develop flexibility for dealing with the complicated competition. The present super competitive environment requires them to develop new technology constantly, reinvent organizational structure, and foster flexible culture.At the present time, domestic and foreign theory scholars and enterprise managers have pay close attention to the issue about enterprise's flexibility. Based on consulting extensive literature, the concept of flexibility have been sorted out and classified, additionally, this thesis summarized the connotation of organizational flexibility from aspects of relationship between enterprise and environment, resources and capabilities.Secondly, this thesis derived measurement of flexibility from three aspects of resource flexibility, production system flexibility and enterprise's overall flexibility. On one hand, according to different criteria, concrete examples about the measurement of resource flexibility were given; On the other hand, through the concept introduction of standard deviation and coefficient of variation, the measurement of production system flexibility have been analyzed in the different aspects; Furthermore, this thesis have researched enterprise's overall flexibility from respond flexibility, scope flexibility and state flexibility, and the three dimensional model was further deduced.Finally, according to the academic study from scholars at home and abroad, theoretical model about and main influencing factors, flexibility, environment and performance was established. Then, through indicators collection and questionnaire design, methods such as questionnaire investigation, Exploratory Factor Analysis, Structure Equation Model (SEM), Moderate Multiple Regression analysis (MMR) were applied in the thesis. Software such as SPSS and AMOS were used. Based on the collected sample data, the reliability and the validity of the variables were tested in this thesis, the hypotheses were tested and some useful conclusions were concluded.
