The small to medium-sized company is very important in our national economy. They must realize that their main focus must be to satisfy their customers, and they must continuously improve their products to do so, or they will die. Evidence shows that success in satisfying the customers depends heavily on cross-functional business processes, so the paper is tried to study the process management in small to medium-sized company, which is expected to help small to medium-sized company to control, improve, and optimize the process to meet customer needs and business needs (cost, cycle time, waste elimination, value creation, etc.). The process is defined as an organized group of related activities that work together to transform one or more kinds of input into outputs that are of value to the customer. There are three principal dimensions for measuring process quality: effectiveness, efficiency, and adaptability. In process management, small to medium-sized companies have certain advantages over larger ones, but in the absence of management, many of their processes is ill-defined, obsolete, excessively costly, and not adaptable to the demands of a constantly changing environment and progress of the enterprise. They should exploit to the fully their favorable conditions and avoid unfavorable ones to improve or design their process. There is now much evidence that a major problem of poor process performance lies with process management technologies. Experience shows that a variety of quality tools and quality management standards, including process mapping, benchmarking, root cause analysis, Six Sigma and ISO 9001, are available to help strongly support the design or improvement of a process management system. Whether a process has existed or will be designed, a four-step method could be applied to each process: define and measure the input, analyze and improve, define and document the process, verify or control. The end of the article shows an example to illuminate the application of these methods.
