This paper demonstrate that some traits of small and middle enterprises (SMEs) clusters will both engender great advantages in competition and block the continuous function of cluster's preponderances, and that's why some clusters declined rapidly after a short term prosperity. Thus, researching deeply on advantage rigidities of clusters and figuring out the resolution are required in constructing sustained competitive advantage. The current clusters theory put too much emphasis on clusters advantages and the cause of it, but has paid less attention to the clusters' negative effects and its harm.Based on the realistic studying on clusters, this paper illustrates that, some traits of SMEs clusters engender great advantages in competition as well as prevent the continuous function of cluster 's preponderances; and displays four lock-in functions which causes such rigidities, they are: efficient boundary, industrial value chain, technological innovation and embeddedness.Than this paper probes into dynamic innovation network and sustained competitive advantages systematically, gives a review of existing clusters advantage theory and point out the weakness; considers that stable advantages which clusters relied shall transmit into dynamic advantages; put forward that dynamic innovation network and assert dynamic organization model, regional surroundings that stimulate innovation are the fundaments of sustained competitive advantages; and demonstrates the relationships between global value chain, modularity, virtualization, the equilibrium of networks embeddedness and sustained competitive advantages. This paper discusses the resolution of SMEs clusters advantage rigidities. At last take the electric bicycle industrial clusters in Xishan district, WuXi, as an example. Based deep investigations, reviews the history and current state of clusters, analyzes the clusters advantage rigidities, and suggests relative policies. In general, this paper attempts to take a small step toward studying on SMEs clusters advantage rigidities, and expect for more and deeper research on this field.
