Developing the rural area, increasing the quality of agriculture and raising the peasants' income are inevitable requirements to bring about the aim of realizing the construction of socialistic new rural area. The progress and popularization of agricultural science and technology can effectively promote the transformation from the traditional agriculture into modern agriculture and increase the crop yield in order to increase the peasants' income. The popularization and the service of agricultural technology do work only if they meet the peasant households' needs, because the peasant households are the final users and the subject of accepting the agricultural science and technology. So it means a lot for us to take a furtive glance to the current situation of agricultural science and technology service in our country understanding their selection behavior to agricultural science and technology service in the stand of peasant households.Theoretically supported by the theory of rational behavior and adopting the methods of questionnaire survey and individual interview, an positive research is made to analyze the peasant households' selection behavior to agricultural science and technology service on the basis of taking L Town in Zaoyang City, Hubei Province as an example. The whole paper is divided into seven parts.The first part mainly reviews the achievements related to this research in retrospect.The second part mainly sets forth the design of this research.The third part describes the basic circumstance of the whole investigation sample.The forth part further describes the situation of agricultural science and technology service in our country from the angles of the supply and need, the education, the soft environment of popularization, and the satisfaction of the agricultural science and technology service.The fifth part describes concretely the peasant households' selection behavior to the agricultural science and technology service from three respects which are the subjects, the content, and the channel of the information delivered.The sixth part analyzes different kinds of factors that influence the peasant households' selection behavior to the agricultural science and technology from both the subjects themselves and the environment. From the view of the subjects themselves, the result shows that the peasant households' selection behavior is obviously related to the age and education of the head of a household and the peasant households' variety of the productions, the investment, the level of commercialization of their productions and the constitution of income. From the view of the environment, the new science and technology and the environment of nature, culture and politics all influence the peasant households' selection behavior.The seventh part draws the conclusion of this research on the basis of positive research and gives the suggestions of how to make agricultural science and technology service better and how to promote the peasant households' passion of adopting latest agricultural science and technology achievements.
