Empirical Study Of Agricultural Science And Technology Households Demonstration Project In Shengzhou

With the advent of the 21st century, China's agricultural development has entered a new stage which requires constant adjustment of agricultural structure and changes the mode of economic development and improving agricultural science and technology achievements conversion rate has been the key to convert agricultural economic development. It has been a long time that the agricultural scientific and technological achievements promotion lags behind and the conversion rate is low. In order to explore the effective way of promoting the agricultural science and technology achievements and improve the conversion rate, the Ministry of Agriculture launched agricultural science and technology households demonstration project in 2004. Shengzhou became a national integrated agricultural science and technology households demonstration project county in 2006. In recent years, agricultural production increas effectively through the implementation of agricultural science and technology households demonstration project. Today, agricultural science and technology households demonstration project has been implemented for 5 years in Shengzhou. Understanding the situation of implementing the project and analyzing the achievement have practical significance to further promote the development of agricultural science and technology households demonstration project in Shengzhou.This paper illustrates the relevant theories of agricultural technical and scientific extension, reviews and analyzes the operating mechanism and working measures of the agricultural science and technology households demonstration project in Shengzhou. This paper chooses vegetable industry,one of the three main industries in agricultural science and technology households demonstration project in Shengzhou to carry out investigation. 86 vegetable farmers (including demonstration households and non-demonstration households) have been selected from three administrative villages of two townships to do the questionnaire. According to the survey data, the achievement of agricultural science and technology households demonstration project has been evaluated through subjective aspect which mainly bases on the farmers'satisfaction on the project and objective aspect which mainly analyzes the input-output. The objective evaluation first use the descriptive statistic method to analyze the input-output and means of production investment for demonstation households before and after the join the project then the econometric model is used to analyze the function of input-output and C-D production function is used to analyze the influence of agricultural science and technology households demonstration project to the output.It has been found the agricultural science and technology households demonstration project in Shengzhou has a series of effective operating mechanism and working measures. This takes effect in strengthening the quality and enthusiasm of instructors, improving farmer's science and technology quality and participation enthusiasm and increasing production and income. Demonstration households are satisfied with the attitude of the instructors, frequency, content and the form. The capital investment for the demonstration households per unit area significantly reduced. Compared with non- demonstration households, the input-output per unit area is higher and the capital of per unit area is relatively low. Through analyzing the C-D production function, the demonstration household identity, family population, labor force of vegetable production, input capital and input field for vegetable can affect the income of farmers greatly.
